Professor Ik Jin Kim was born in Gapyung, Korea, in 1959. In 1985 he received his B.S from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering, Myung Ji University. In 1987 he obtained his M.S. from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering, Han Yang University. In 1991 he earned his Dr-Ing. in structural ceramics from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering, Technical University of Aachen, RWTH in Germany, where his research field was thermal shock resistant and mechanical properties of aluminum titanate-mullite and powder preparation by sol-gel process. In the period 1992-1993, he was a lecturer in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Danguk University. He was also a research group leader in Institute of Carbon Chemistry, Seoul National University of Education, Seoul. There he gained experience in carbon structure and the engineering of carbon chemical process.   Since March 1994, he is a Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Hanseo University, and director of the Institute for Processing and application of Inorganic Materials (PAIM) with a parallel Director of Chungnam Advanced-fabrication Technology Innovation Center (CATIC) and Institute of Advanced Ceramics for Semiconductor (IACS) in BIEMT Ltd. His research interests are in advanced ceramics for high temperature application and semiconductor technology include the synthesis of host-guest materials, as well as the analysis and simulation of molecular level composites. He is the author or co-author of over 120 journal publications on the above subject, and presented numerous international conference papers. He is a reviewer in four scientific journals and has regularly refereed papers for various conferences.
